PROCEEDINGS OF THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE

1. The Committee met at 3.45 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Esmonde (in the Chair), the Minister for Lands, Deputies Brennan, Daly, Barry Desmond, Kenny, Kitt, McMahon*, John O’Leary, Pattison, Taylor,* and Tunney.

3. Consideration of Bill.

The Committee resumed consideration of the Bill.

(i) Section 45.

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 36, subsection (1), line 22, to delete ‘or purchase for resale’ and substitute‘, purchase for resale, or engage in taxidermy in respect of’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 37, subsection (8) (a), to delete ‘so’ from line 13.”

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 37, subsection (10), to insert ‘, except in relation to taxidermy,’ after ‘shall’ in line 27.”

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 37, subsection (10), to insert ‘, and in relation to taxidermy the said references in this section shall be construed as including references to the skin, plumage or any other part of such a bird or animal’ after ‘animal’ in line 28.”

“In page 40, subsection (1) (b), line 21, to delete‘, carcase or any other part’ and substitute ‘or the carcase’.”

“In page 40, subsection (1), between lines 22 and 23, to insert the following paragraph:

‘(c) any part, other than the carcase, or any product of a wild animal or wild bird which is a part or product so specified.’.”

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 40, subsection (1) (e), line 26, to delete‘, roots or other part’ and substitute ‘or roots’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 40, subsection (1), between lines 26 and 27, to insert the following new paragraph:

‘() any part, other than the flowers or roots, or any product of any such plant which is a part or product so specified.’.”

(iv) Section 53.

Amendment, proposed (Minister for Lands):

“In page 40, subsection (1) (b), line 54, to delete‘, carcase or any other part’ and substitute ‘or the carcase’.”

“In page 40, subsection (1), between lines 56 and 57, to insert the following new paragraph:

‘(c) any part, other than the carcase, or any product of a wild animal or wild bird which is a part or product so specified,’.”

“In page 41, subsection (1) (e), line 4, to delete‘, roots or other part’ and substitute ‘or roots’.”
