1. The Committee met at 10 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following Members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, Briscoe, R. Burke, E. Collins, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Keating, MacSharry, Nolan, Treacy and Tunney.


3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity, accompanied by Mr. S. Mac Gearailt.


4. The Committee noted that the House authorities had engaged additional reporting staff to enable the Committee to discharge the duties placed on it.


5. The Committee noted the receipt from the Garda Technical Bureau of photographs* of treated copies of the George Dixon account ledger card.


6. Ordered: that the Munster and Leinster Bank be requested to send the original of the mandate** for the account for the Relief Committee of Belfast Fund for the Relief of Distress, and that the Gardaí be asked to make a technical examination* on it.


7. Ordered: that the Munster and Leinster Bank be asked to furnish particulars of telephone calls between the Lr. Baggot St. branch and the National Provincial Bank, Piccadilly, London during the period of the accounts.


8. Ordered: that notice be given to Messrs. John Kelly, Gearóid Mac Eoin and Páraic Haughey that they may be required to attend.


9. The Committee went into public session.
