1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, Briscoe, R. Burke, E. Collins, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Keating, MacSharry, Nolan, Treacy and Tunney.


3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity, accompanied by Mr. S. Mac Gearailt.


4. Ordered: that a copy of the notice relating to the behaviour of visitors, displayed in the Dáil Chamber, be placed inside and outside the Committee Room.


5. The Committee went into public session.


6. Witnesses Examined.


Examination of Mr. A. J. Fagan was resumed.


7. The Committee went into private session.


8. Examination of Mr. Fagan continued in private session.


9. Ordered: the witness concurring, that the evidence taken from Mr. Fagan in private session today be published.

24. Ordered: that the members of the Committee be paired, subject to the Whips’ approval.


25. Ordered: that the Army Chief of Staff be required to attend and to send documents, specifically the directive by the Minister for Defence of 6th February 1970 and such documents as set out the chain of command in relation to the Intelligence Section.
