1. The Committee met at 10 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, Briscoe, R. Burke, E. Collins, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Keating, MacSharry, Nolan, Treacy and Tunney.


3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity, accompanied by Mr. S. Mac Gearailt.


4. The Committee went into public session.


5. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. D. Carroll, Munster and Leinster Bank, was sworn and examined (accompanied by Mr. E. R. O’Connor, Solicitor).


6. Mr. Carroll withdrew.

Mr. M. Power, Munster and Leinster Bank, was sworn and examined (accompanied by Mr. E. R. O’Connor, Solicitor).

Mr. P. J. Morrissey, Munster and Leinster Bank, was sworn and examined (accompanied by Mr. E. R. O’Connor, Solicitor).


10. Mr. Morrissey withdrew.


11. Sitting Suspended.


The sitting was suspended at 11.50 a.m. until 12.25 p.m. today.


12. The Committee met again at 12.25 p.m.


13. The Committee went into public session.

Examination of Mr. Morrissey was resumed.

Mr. B. Gleeson, Munster and Leinster Bank, was sworn and examined (accompanied by Mr. E. R. O’Connor, Solicitor).

21. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. A. J. Fagan, Department of Finance was sworn and examined.


22. Mr. Fagan withdrew.


23. The Committee went into private session.


24. Ordered: that Miss M. Morrissey, Department of Finance, be required to attend.


25. Ordered: that the trunk call list for the Munster and Leinster Bank, 2 Lr. Baggot St. be sought for the period November 1969 to April 1970.*


26. Ordered: that a handwriting report on the original of the document on page 47 of the “Pink Book” be obtained (Appendix 10).**


27. Ordered: that a technical examination of the ledger card of the George Dixon account be obtained.**


28. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 5.35 p.m. until 10 a.m. on Tuesday next.
