PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE

1. The Committee met at 4 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, R. Burke, Dowling, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, MacSharry, Nolan and Tunney.


3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity.


4. The Committee considered Colonel Hefferon’s letters* of 11 and 14 November 1971 in reply to the Committee’s letter* of 10 November 1971.


Ordered: that the Secretary should prepare a draft reply for submission to counsel (subject to the sanction of the Minister for Finance for the necessary expenditure).


5. Ordered: that the Secretary should prepare a draft letter to the solicitor for Mr. John Kelly, in relation to his requests regarding evidence taken in private, for submission to counsel.


6. The Committee considered the form of a draft Final Report.


7. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 6 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday next.
