PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE

1. The Committee met at 3.30 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, R. Burke, Dowling, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, MacSharry, Nolan, and Tunney.


3. The Committee deliberated.


4. The Committee went into public session.


5. Witnesses Examined.


Examination of Mr. Séamus Brady was resumed.


6. Mr. Brady withdrew.


7. Mr. P. Sutherland, B.L. addressed the Committee on behalf of Captain James J. Kelly, Captain Kelly and Mrs. Moynihan, solicitor being present.


8. Mr. Sutherland, Captain Kelly and Mrs. Moynihan withdrew.


9. The Committee went into private session.


10. The Committee again considered the matters referred to in paragraphs 4 and 16 of yesterday’s Proceedings.


Ordered: (i) that the evidence of Mr. F and Mr. H be given to a witness on Messrs. F and H so authorising, (ii) that Detective Sergeant Donald MacDonald be summoned to attend after the Summer Recess and (iii) that Mr. John Kelly be informed of the decision regarding Detective Sergeant MacDonald.*


11. Resolved: to take no action on the letter of 28 July, 1971 from the solicitors for Mr. Páraic Haughey.


12. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 5.45 p.m. until 4.15 p.m. on Wednesday, 27 October.
