1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Peter Barry, Briscoe, Edward Collins and Tunney.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1968-69.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1968-69 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—


Office of the Minister for Justice, Garda Siochana, Prisons, Courts, Land Registry and Registry of Deeds, Social Welfare, Valuation and Ordnance Survey and Rates on Government Property.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. P. Berry (Secretary, Department of Justice), Mr. L. Honohan (Secretary, Department of Social Welfare), Mr. J. Good (Commissioner of Valuation), Mr. P. S. Mac Guill and Mr. J. R. Whitty (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


5. Interim Report of Committee.


The Chairman brought forward a Draft Interim Report for consideration.


Draft Interim Report agreed to.


Ordered: To report to the Dáil accordingly.


6. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 1 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
