1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Peter Barry, Briscoe, Edward Collins, FitzGerald, Keating and Tunney.


3. Death of Member.


The Chairman announced the death of Deputy Patrick J. Lenihan. A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Member was agreed to unanimously.


4. Election of Temporary Chairman.


Motion made (Deputy Briscoe):


“That Deputy Peter Barry be the Chairman of the Committee until the return of the Chairman.”


Question put, and agreed to.


Deputy Peter Barry took the Chair accordingly.


5. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1968-69.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1968-69 was resumed.


Deputy Hogan resumed the Chair.


The following Accounts were disposed of:—Health and Central Mental Hospital.


6. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. P. S. Ó Muireadhaigh (Secretary, Department of Health), and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


7. The Committee adjourned at 1.30 p.m. and resumed at 3 p.m.


8. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1968-69.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1968-69 was resumed. The following Account was disposed of:—


Transport and Power.


9. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. D. Ó Riordáin (Secretary, Department of Transport and Power) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


10. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 5 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
