THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Jones (in the Chair), Deputies Andrews, Briscoe, Flor Crowley, Healy, Patrick Hogan (South Tipperary) and Molloy.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1964-65.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1964-65 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—President’s Establishment (Excess Vote), Houses of the Oireachtas (Excess Vote), Department of the Taoiseach (Excess Vote), Office of the Minister for Finance (Excess Vote), President’s Establishment, Houses of the Oireachtas, Department of the Taoiseach, Central Statistics Office, Office of the Minister for Finance, State Laboratory, Civil Service Commission, An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Secret Service, Agricultural Grants, Law Charges, Miscellaneous Expenses, Remuneration, Increases in Pensions, Local Loans Fund, Local Government and Posts and Telegraphs.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. T. K. Whitaker (Secretary, Department of Finance), Mr. J. Garvin (Secretary, Department of Local Government), L. Ó Broin (Secretary, Department of Posts and Telegraphs), Mr. J. Whelan (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

5. Interim Report of Committee.

The Chairman brought forward a Draft Interim Report for consideration.

Draft Interim Report agreed to.

Ordered: To report to the Dáil accordingly.

6. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 1.20 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, 16th June, 1966.
