4. Appearances for the Petitioner.


Mr. Herbert R. McWilliam, B.L., and Messrs. McMahon and Tweedy, Parliamentary Agents, appeared for the Petitioner, Mr. William Percival Le Clerc.


5. Reports on the Bill.


Reports on the Bill from the Department of Local Government and the Commissioners of Charitable Donations and Bequests for Ireland were read.


6. Hearing in support of Preamble.


Mr. W. R. C. Parke, S.C. and Mr. Brian McCracken, B.L. were heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.


7. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. Francis La Touche Godfrey, F.T.C.D., Chairman of the Trustees of the French Huguenot Fund; and Captain James Chaigneau Colvill, Trustee, sworn and examined.


8. Meeting Suspended.


The Committee suspended its meeting at 4.50 p.m.

Mr. Ashley Powell, S.C., Trustee; Mrs. Mildred May Empey, Secretary to the Trustees; and Mr. Jeffrey B. Jenkins, Director of Messrs. W. and R. Jacob & Co., Ltd., sworn and examined.

Mr. Herbert R. McWilliam, B.L. called evidence in support of the Petition against the Bill.

Mr. William Percival Le Clerc, Petitioner; Mr. David Claude Cecil Mercier, Huguenot; and Mr. Henry Aimers Wheeler, expert on cemeteries, sworn and examined.
