In reference to the question raised during my examination by the Public Accounts Committee which related to the investment of funds held by the Department of Education, I wish to explain that every time a Government guaranteed loan is thrown open to public subscription all existing investments are carefully reviewed to ascertain whether a greater income would be secured by selling and reinvesting in the new loan. In connection with this review informal discussions take place between officers of the Department of Finance and officers of the Department of Education.
