THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies J. Brennan, S. Browne, Cunningham, Haughey, Jones, T. Lynch and Sheldon.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1957-58.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1957-58 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Defence, Army Pensions, Office of the Minister for Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technical Instruction, Science and Art, Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Universities and Colleges, Office of the Minister for Justice, Garda Síochána, Prisons, District Court, Circuit Court, Supreme Court and High Court of Justice, Land Registry and Registry of Deeds and Public Record Office.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. H. C. Brady (Secretary, Department of Defence), Mr. T. Ó Raifeartaigh (Secretary, Department of Education), Mr. T. J. Coyne (Secretary, Department of Justice), Miss M. Bhreathnach, Mr. C. J. Byrnes and Mr. J. F. MacInerney (Department of Finance), and the Secretary and Director of Audit were examined.

5. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 12.45 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
