THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Déardaoin, 28 Meitheamh, 1956.

Thursday, 28th June, 1956.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:

Senator O’Brien (in the Chair), Senators Fearon, Hawkins and Walsh.

3. Consideration of Memoranda.

Following consideration of the memorandum submitted by the Department of Justice arising out of the examination of the witness deputed to appear before the Committee in connection with three statutory instruments it was:

(i) Ordered: That the Department of Finance be requested to submit a memorandum on the general question of the dating of statutory instruments;

(ii) Resolved: That the special attention of Seanad Éireann be drawn to the following instruments on ground (vi) of the Order of Reference.

Garda Síochána Allowances Order, 1955 [S.I. No. 271 of 1955].

Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1956 [S.I. No. 15 of 1956].

(iii) Resolved: That it is not necessary to draw the special attention of Seanad Éireann to the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1955 [S.I. No. 272 of 1955].
