The following members were present: Senator O’Brien (in the Chair), Senators Douglas, Fearon, Sheehy-Skeffington and Walsh. 3. Examination of Departmental Representative. Mr. F. C. Connolly, the representative deputed by the Department of Justice to appear before the Committee as a witness, consequent on the order of 22nd March, 1956, was examined in connection with the following instruments: Garda Síochána Allowances Order, 1955 [S.I. Following consideration of the memorandum submitted by the Department of Finance in accordance with the Order of 22nd March, 1956, on the general question of furnishing explanatory memoranda with statutory instruments it was:— Resolved: That the memorandum from the Department of Finance together with that from the Deptartment of Social Welfare on three instruments be incorporated in the Report of the Committee. 6.
