1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Carter (in the Chair), Deputies A. Barry, Bartley, J. Brennan, T. Lynch, Mrs. O’Carroll, O’Hara and Sheldon.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1954-55.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1954-55 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:— National Gallery, Office of the Minister for Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technical Instruction, Science and Art, Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Defence and Army Pensions.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. T. McGreevy (Director, National Gallery), Mr. L. Ó Muirthe (Secretary, Department of Education), Lieutenant-General P. Mac Mahon (Secretary, Department of Defence), Mr. P. S. MacGuill and Mr. J. F. MacInerney (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.
