IMEACHTA AN CHOISTE.THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.Déardaoin, 22 Márta, 1956.Thursday, 22nd March, 1956.1. The Committee met at 11.30 a.m. 2. Members Present. The following members were present: Senator O’Brien (in the Chair), Senators Fearon and Sheehy-Skeffington. 3. Consideration of Memoranda. Following consideration of further memoranda submitted by Departments in accordance with the Order of 7th March, 1956, it was:— (i) Resolved: That it is not necessary to draw the attention of Seanad Éireann to the following instruments:— Rules for the Government of Prisons, 1955 [S.I. No. 127 of 1955]. Regulations as to the Measuring and Photographing of Prisoners, 1955 [S.I. No. 114 of 1955]. (ii) Ordered: That, in respect of the following instruments, the Department concerned be requested to depute a representative to appear before the Committee as a witness for the purpose of explaining the instruments: Garda Síochána Allowances Order, 1955 [S.I. No. 271 of 1955]. Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1955 [S.I. No. 272 of 1955]. Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1956 [S.I. No. 15 of 1956]. 4. Explanatory Memoranda with Statutory Instruments. Consideration of the memorandum submitted by the Department of Social Welfare in accordance with the Order of 2nd November, 1955 on three statutory instruments which was adjourned on 7th March, was resumed. Ordered: That the Department of Finance be requested to submit a memorandum on the general question of furnishing explanatory memoranda with statutory instruments. 5.
