APPENDIX VII.Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 2) Warrant, 1955 (S.I. No. 221 of 1955).
Cléireach an Rogha-Choiste, Seanad Éireann. I am directed by the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs to refer to your minute of the 9th March regarding the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 2) Warrant 1955 (S.I. No. 221 of 1955) and to state that the Warrant, completed by the Minister for Finance, was returned by his Department with a covering minute dated 15th November and was received here on the following day. The Stationery Office were asked by minute dated 17th November to assign a Statutory Instrument Number and Presentation Number which they supplied by telephone on Friday, 18th November. The Warrant was then duplicated and copies were issued to the Clerk of the Senate on the 22nd November. The final stage would have been completed sooner but for the intervention of a weekend and the fact that the section concerned was under heavy pressure at the time due to staff vacancies and leave absences. The delay which occurred is regretted. Special attention is being directed to the terms of paragraph 13 of the Report of the Select Committee on Statutory Instruments and other steps taken with the object of ensuring that, so far as lies in this Department’s power, Statutory Instruments will in future be presented to the Houses of the Oireachtas with all possible despatch. L. Ó BROIN. 19 Márta, 1956. |
