With reference to your communication of 9th March, 1956, I am directed by the Minister for Education to inform you that the Vocational Education Act, 1930 (Grants under Section 53) Regulations, 1955 (S.I. No. 210 of 1955) were forwarded to the Department of Finance for the Minister’s seal and signature on 13th September, 1955, and were duly signed and sealed on 30th September, 1955, and were received back in this Department on the 11th October, 1955. While the papers were prepared for forwarding to the Oireachtas on the 12th October, 1955, they were not actually forwarded until the 17th October due to being sent in error to the wrong section in the course of issue.

This Department has been in communication with the Department of Finance on the question generally and a satisfactory arrangement has been made for dealing more expeditiously in future with the requirements governing the laying of Statutory Instruments before the Oireachtas.
