PROCEEDINGS OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 3 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


The Parliamentary Secretary to the Government (in the Chair), the Minister for Justice, Deputies Allen, Belton Colley, Cowan, M. Dockrell, Hillery, Hilliard, MacEoin, Morrissey and T. O’Sullivan.


3. Memoranda from Judges.


A Memorandum was received from the Chief Justice on behalf of the judges of the Supreme and High Courts (See Appendix I).


The Committee was informed that the judges of the Circuit Court were preparing a memorandum for submission in support of their claim.


4. Memorandum from Justices of the District Court.


Ordered: That the justices of the District Court be invited to submit a memorandum in support of their claim for improved emoluments.


5. The Committee deliberated.


6. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 5.15 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Friday, 2nd January.
