DISPOSAL OF EQUIPMENT PURCHASED FOR THE EMERGENCY COOKED MEALS SERVICE.

The expenditure incurred by the Department amounted to £6,741 13s. 1d. Between March, 1943 and June, 1946, various items of the equipment purchased were with the sanction of the Department of Finance disposed of as follows:

In July, 1946, it was decided that the remaining equipment should be disposed of to Government Departments, local authorities, and if any equipment then remained the Department of Posts and Telegraphs be requested to dispose of it.

In view of the possibility that the equipment might be required in the fuel difficulties of last winter no further action was taken with regard to the disposal of the balance. It is considered that the disposal of the remainder of the equipment may now be proceeded with and those Department (Department of Education, Office of Public Works and the Department of Industry and Commerce) that have been making inquiries regarding the purchase of the equipment have been so informed.


When the requirements of Government Departments as indicated above have been satisfied the next step will be to circularise local authorities.
