IMEACHTA AN CHOISTE.THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.Déardaoin, 19ú Deireadh Fómhair, 1944.Thursday, 19th October, 1944.1. The Committee met at 11 a.m. 2. Present: Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies Breslin, Briscoe, Cogan, Cosgrave, M. E. Dockrell, Gorry, Loughman, Lydon, MacEoin, M. O’Sullivan and Pattison. 3. Consideration of the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1942-43 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—President’s Establishment, Houses of the Oireachtas, Department of the Taoiseach, Office of the Minister for Finance, State Laboratory, Civil Service Commission, Irish Tourist Board, Commissions and Special Inquiries, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Rates on Government Property, Secret Service, Expenses under the Electoral Act and the Juries Act, Miscellaneous Expenses, Supplementary Agricultural Grants, Law Charges, Universities and Colleges, Quit Rent, Management of Government Stocks, Emergency Scientific Research Bureau, Damage to Property (Neutrality) Compensation, Personal Injuries (Civilians) Compensation, Repayments to Contingency Fund, Office of the Minister for Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technical Instruction, Science and Art, Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Office of the Revenue Commissioners, Old Age Pensions, and Compensation Bounties. 4. Mr. J. J. McElligott (Secretary, Department of Finance), Mícheál Breathnach (Secretary, Department of Education), Mr. T. Cleary (Chairman, Revenue Commissioners), Mr. C. S. Almond, Mr. G. P. S. Hogan (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined. 5. The Chairman brought forward a Draft Interim Report which was read the first and second time and passed. Ordered: to report accordingly. 6. The Committee adjourned at 1.30 p.m. till Thursday, 9th November, 1944. |
