THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Thursday, 9th November, 1944.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


Present: Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies B. Brady, S. Brady, Breslin, Cogan, Cosgrave, M. E. Dockrell, Gorry, Loughman, Lydon and Pattison.


3. Consideration of the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1942-43 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Stationery and Printing, Valuation and Boundary Survey, Ordnance Survey, Public Record Office, Charitable Donations and Bequests, Dundrum Asylum, Posts and Telegraphs, Wireless Broadcasting, National Health Insurance, Widows’ and Orphans’ Pensions, Local Government and Public Health, and General Register Office.


4. Mr. J. B. Whelehan (Controller, Stationery Office), Mr. C. C. McElligott (Commissioner of Valuation), Mr. D. Coffey (Public Record Office), Mr. W. Smyth (Secretary, Charitable Donations and Bequests), Dr. G. W. Scroope (Dundrum Asylum), Mr. P. S. O’Hegarty (Secretary, Department of Posts and Telegraphs), Mr. J. Hurson, (Secretary, Department of Local Government and Public Health), Mr. C. S. Almond, Mr. L. O Broin, Mr. L. M. Fitzgerald (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


5. The Committee adjourned at 1 p.m. till Thursday, 30th November, 1944.
