1. The Committee met at 5.13 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:-

Deputies Richard Bruton, Pat Carey, Mary Hanafin, Brian Hayes, Cecilia Keaveney, Michael P. Kitt (in the Chair), John Moloney, Denis Naughten, Brian O’Shea and Eddie Wade and Senators Labhrás Ó Murchú and Ann Ormonde.

3. Report on Adult Literacy

Deputy Richard Bruton brought forward a report “Literacy Levels in Ireland” which was read and agreed subject to some amendments and clarification which would be agreed by the Chairman.

Ordered: To report accordingly.
