Letter dated 1 October, 1985 from the Clerk to the Committee to the General Secretary, Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors.APPENDIX G1 October, 1985. Dear Mr. Murray, The Committee is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the riot which took place on Spike Island on 1st September last. The Committee is aware that dissatisfaction has been expressed by some members of the Garda Siochana about the absence of any contingency plans to deal with an emergency situation on the Island. The Committee decided to request the Garda Associations to furnish any information on the riot which they may be in a position to supply to the Committee. The Committee is particularly interested in the plans, if any, which were in existence at that date to deal with an emergency and whether or not the situation in this regard has been changed since the riot. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, _____________________ F.J. Brady Clerk to the Committee |
