Dear Deputy,

Thank you for your letter regarding the Select Committee on Crime, Lawlessness and Vandalism.

I remain of the view that the general discussion envisaged in your letter of 12 December last represents the best way to try to resolve issues of concern to your Committee. As I indicated in my statement to which you refer I had intended to arrange such a discussion with yourself and the Vice-Chairman of the Committee in this present Dail session.

My Private Secretary will be in touch with you to arrange a date.

Incidentally no trace of the Committee’s letter of 10 January can be found in my Office.
