1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present

The following members were present:—

Deputy O’Toole (in the Chair), Deputies Andrews, Belton, Horgan, Leyden, Morley and O’Hanlon.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts 1978

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1978 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:—

Houses of the Oireachtas, Department of the Taoiseach, An Chomhairle Ealaíon, National Gallery, Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Stationery Office, Roinn na Gaeltachta, Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation.

4. Witnesses Examined

Mr. M. J. Healy (Clerk of the Dáil), Mr. D. Ó Súilleabháin (Secretary, Department of the Taoiseach), Dr. J. White (Director, National Gallery of Ireland), Mr. D. Quigley (Chief Legal Assistant, Office of the Attorney General), Mr. S. O’Leary (Senior Legal Assistant, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions), Mr. J. F. Harman (Controller, Stationery Office), Mr. L. Tóibín (Secretary, Department of the Gaeltacht), Mr. A. O’Rourke (Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

The Committee adjourned at 12.25 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
