LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM WESTERN HEALTH BOARD

I apologise for not coming back to you, as promised, on Wednesday last, 31st ultimo. I discussed, with my Colleagues at our meeting on that date, the question of a corporate reply by me, in my capacity as Honorary Secretary of the Chief Executive Officers of the eight area Health Boards, but due to the fact that a number of Boards had placed your communication before their Members, it was felt, at this stage, that it would not be appropriate to attempt to present you with a corporate reply. Accordingly, I informed my own Board at its meeting yesterday afternoon of the content of your letter and sought their reaction. The response of my Board was that the Voluntary Health Insurance Board is doing an excellent job, which sentiments I fully endorse.
