LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS

I refer to your letter of 15 November 1979 inviting our views on the National Building Agency. The only association we have had with the Agency was in relation to the provision of houses for married members of the Garda Síochána. The last of 446 such houses built by the Agency from funds advanced by us for the purpose was completed about ten years ago. On completion the houses were handed over to us for maintenance. Many of the houses suffered defects due to a variety of causes and there were difficulties in some cases over title. These problems have for the most part been solved.

We have no current experience of the activities of the Agency.
