LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE

With reference to your letter of 15 November, 1979 with enclosure seeking the views of this Department on the National Building Agency Ltd., I am directed by the Minister for Defence to state that the Company has been engaged by this Department in connection with several schemes for the building of houses for married soldiers. This entails site surveying, designing, preparation of tender documents, invitation of tenders, supervision of building and certifications of accounts.

It has been the experience of this Department that in general the National Building Agency has done a good job with the housing entrusted to it. A list of housing completed under its aegis or in hands is attached for information.
