APPENDIX 14

LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM WEXFORD CORPORATION

In reply to your letter of the 14th November, 1979, I set out hereunder the views of the Corporation in relation to the points listed.

(a) Housing provided for Wexford Corporation through the N.B.A. has, so far, been successful—one scheme of 68 houses—Stage 1, Coolcotts.

(b) There has been good consultation between Wexford Corporation and the N.B.A. in agreeing a brief prior to commencement of housing design.

(c) There has also been good consultation between Wexford Corporation and the N.B.A. to agree housing design and construction programme.

(d) It is considered necessary to have a full time clerk of works on these housing schemes.

(e) Houses, so far completed, have been satisfactory. Some faults have arisen. In this respect there does not appear to be a satisfactory procedure for attending to tenants complaints and having the complaints quickly and satisfactorily remedied. Consideration should be given to the furnishing of periodic progress reports to the Corporation.

Yours faithfully

EDWARD BREEN
