When giving evidence to the Committee of Public Accounts regarding the Appropriation Accounts for 1976, I undertook to provide the following information:

Vote 19—Civil Service Commission

1. Amount paid by way of newspaper advertising during 1976.

2. Number of people who received overtime payments.

Vote 19—Civil Service Commission

1. Advertising

The Committee requested to be informed of the amount paid by way of newspaper advertising during 1976.

In 1976 a total of £71,495 was paid by way of newspaper advertising, £50,423 for the Civil Service Commission and £21,072 for the Local Appointments Commission.

2. Extra Remuneration

The Committee requested to be informed of the total number of people who received overtime payments.

57 people were paid overtime in 1976.
