When giving evidence to the Committee of Public Accounts regarding the Appropriation Accounts for 1976, I undertook to provide the following information:
Vote 18—Office of the Minister for the Public Service.
1. Number of consultants employed in 1976, the type of work undertaken by them and the fees paid in each case.
2. A breakdown of the £50,820 paid in overtime, showing the actual amount paid to each officer and the salary scales of the grades that received overtime payments.
The attached note provides the relevant information.

1. Consultancy Services
The Committee requested to be informed of the number of Consultants employed in 1976, the type of work undertaken by them and the fees paid in each case. Expenditure on Consultancy Services in 1976 was £107,141. The Institute of Public Administration received £65,479 for the conduct of administrative research projects.
A total of £41,662 was paid to 15 other consultancy organisations, groups or individuals in respect of the projects listed below:
