I am directed by the Chairman, Deputy Paddy O’Toole, to state that the Committee requests that, in addition to the information already included under the heading “Extra Remuneration” in the Appropriation Accounts, the total number involved should also be given irrespective of the £200 limit.

I am directed by the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance to refer to your minute of 15 Nollaig, 1978 concerning a change in the format of the notes on extra remuneration in the Appropriation Accounts. I am to say that the Minister concurs in the proposal that, in addition to the usual notes showing any payment in excess of £200 in respect of extra remuneration, the total number of officers receiving such payment should be stated without regard to the £200 limit.

Accordingly, a circular is being issued to all Accounting Officers requesting that the change be made with effect from the 1978 Appropriation Accounts.
