The following members were present:—


Deputies N. Andrews, V. Brady, C. Murphy, F. O’Brien, O’Toole and Woods.


3. Election of Chairman


Motion made (Deputy N. Andrews):


“That Deputy O’Toole be Chairman of the Committee.”


Question put and agreed to.


Deputy O’Toole took the chair accordingly.


4. Ordered: That the sittings of the Committee be held in private.


5. The Committee deliberated.


6. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts 1976


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the period 1 January 1976 to 31 December 1976 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Office of the Minister for the Public Service, Civil Service Commission, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Remuneration, Central Statistics Office.


7. Witnesses Examined


Mr. D. Quigley (Senior Legal Assistant, Office of the Attorney General), Mr. S. P. O’Leary (Legal Assistant, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions), Mr. S. Mac Gamhna (Secretary, Department of the Public Service), Mr. T. P. Linehan (Director, Central Statistics Office) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


8. The Committee deliberated.

The Committee adjourned at 12.55 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
