I wish to refer to the questions put to me by the Public Accounts Committee in relation to Paragraph 32, Report of Comptroller and Auditor General on the Appropriation Accounts of the Public Service for the financial year 1 April-31 December, 1974, concerning Vote 28, Subhead D1 of this Department and to forward the following information on the points raised:

1. The firm in question published 8 books in the period from 1 April to 31 December 1974 (the required number in a full year is 9) of which 5 were original works and 3 reprints.

2. The firm is not required under the agreement to furnish the production costs of the individual books and information is not immediately available, therefore, to give a break-down of costs as between original works and reprints.
