COURTS—ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.

At the proceedings of the Committee on the 4 November 1976 in connection with expenditure from the Courts Vote I undertook to supply information regarding the provision of £60,000 under the heading of “additional assistance”.

I attach a statement setting out the position.

Enclosure.

This sum was provided to cover a number of new posts which were expected to be sanctioned but which had not been sanctioned at the time the Estimates were agreed. The posts were:

Dublin Metropolitan District Court Offices.

11 posts in grades from Clerical Assistant to Senior District Court Clerk.

Circuit Court Offices.

26 posts in grades from Court Messenger to Executive Officer.

Superior Courts Offices.

A post of Assistant Registrar.

The posts were subsequently sanctioned and filled.
