Proceedings of the Committee

Thursday, 13th February, 1975.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputies Bermingham, Crotty, de Valera, H. Gibbons, Governey, Griffin, Moore, C. Murphy, Pattison, Toal and Tunney.

3. Election of Chairman.

Motion made (Deputy Pattison):

“That Deputy de Valera be Chairman of the Committee.”

Question put and agreed to.

Deputy de Valera took the Chair accordingly.

4. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts 1972-73.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1972-73 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Office of the Minister for Justice, Garda Síochána (Excess Vote), Garda Síochána, Prisons, Courts, Land Registry and Registry of Deeds.

5. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. A. Ward (Secretary, Department of Justice) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

6. Interim Report of Committee.

The Chairman brought forward a Draft Interim Report for consideration.

Draft Interim Report agreed to.

Ordered: To report to the Dáil accordingly.

7. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 12.40 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
