Appropriation Accounts 1971/72—Vote 37 Agriculture.

On the occasion of my attendance before your Committee in connection with the above Accounts, I undertook to advise the Committee about the number of tenders received in connection with work on the Dairy Science project at University College, Cork. The position is that separate tenders were invited by the College Authorities for (a) demolition work (b) piling and (c) construction of the new Dairy Science building. In the case of (a), four tenders were received, the lowest of which was accepted. In the case of (b), three tenders were received of which the lowest in effect was accepted. Five tenders were received for the building project (item c). The lowest tender was proposed for acceptance but the proposal was not approved and work was not proceeded with pending a re-assessment of the project.
