1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputies Bermingham, de Valera, H. Gibbons, Griffin, MacSharry, Pattison and Tunney.

3. Election of Chairman.

Motion made (Deputy Pattison):

“That Deputy de Valera be Chairman of the Committee”.

Question put and agreed to.

Deputy de Valera took the Chair accordingly.

4. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts 1971-72.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1971-72 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Office of the Minister for Justice, Garda Síochána, Prisons, Courts, Land Registry and Registry of Deeds (Excess Vote), Land Registry and Registry of Deeds.

5. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. A. Ward (Secretary, Department of Justice) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

6. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 12.30 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
