THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Wednesday, 14th March, 1973.

1. The Committee met at 4.30 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Senator Sheldon (in the Chair), Senators McElgunn and Owens.

3. Consideration of Memoranda.

Following consideration of memoranda submitted in accordance with the Orders of 28th June and 13th September, 1972, it was:—

(i) Resolved: That the memoranda received from the Department of the Taoiseach, Department of Education and the National University of Ireland together with memoranda received from University College Dublin and University College Cork relating to delays in the laying of statutes before Seanad Éireann be incorporated in the Report of the Committee.

(ii) Resolved: That the special attention of Seanad Éireann be drawn to (a) the retrospective element in, and (b) the format of, the statutes examined by the Committee on grounds (iii) and (v) respectively of the Resolution of Reference.

4. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 5.15 p.m.
