THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Thursday, 26th October, 1972.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputies R. Burke, E. Collins, Dowling, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Nolan, MacSharry, Treacy and Tunney.


3. Election of Chairman.


Motion made (Deputy Nolan):


“That Deputy E. Collins be Chairman of the Committee”


Question put and agreed to.


Deputy E. Collins took the Chair accordingly.


4. Death of Member.


The Chairman paid tribute to the late Deputy Patrick Hogan who had been Chairman of the Committee. A vote of sympathy with the relatives was agreed to unanimously.


5. The Committee deliberated.


6. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1969-70.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1969-70 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Office of the Minister for Justice, Garda Síochána, Prisons, Courts, Land Registry and Registry of Deeds, Charitable Donations and Bequests, Defence and Army Pensions.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. A. Ward (Secretary, Department of Justice), Mr. J. S. Martin (Secretary, Commissioners of Charitable Donations and Bequests), Mr. S. Ó Cearnaigh (Secretary, Department of Defence) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


5. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 1.15 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, 3rd November, 1972.
