1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputies Barrett, E. Collins, FitzGerald, MacSharry, Nolan and Tunney.


3. Election of Temporary Chairman.


Motion made (Deputy Tunney):


“That in the unavoidable absence of the Chairman, Deputy Collins do take the Chair for this meeting.”


Question put, and agreed to.


Deputy Collins took the Chair accordingly.


4. The Committee considered a letter* of 11 July 1972 from Mr. C. H. Murray, Secretary, Department of Finance regarding a visit to Belfast.


Ordered: That the report furnished with the letter be printed as an Appendix to the Final Report.


5. Ordered: That references in correspondence** to the substance of the secret semi-official letter of 21 May 1970 from the then Secretary, Department of Finance be deleted in the light of the Department of Finance letter of 22 June 1972.


6. The Committee deliberated.


7. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 12.15 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, 26 October 1972.
