1. The Committee met at 10 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, Briscoe, Burke, E. Collins, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Keating, MacSharry, Nolan, Treacy and Tunney.


3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity.


4. The Committee went into public session.


5. Witnesses Examined.


Examination of Colonel Hefferon was resumed.


6. Colonel Hefferon withdrew.


7. The Committee went into private session.


8. The Committee deliberated.


9. Sitting Suspended.


The sitting was suspended at 1.10 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. today.


10. The Committee resumed at 2.30 p.m.


11. The Committee went into public session.


12. Witnesses Examined.


Leslie Bean de Barra, Chairman Irish Red Cross Society, was sworn and examined (accompanied by Miss Mary B. Murphy, Secretary, Irish Red Cross Society).


13. Bean de Barra withdrew.


14. Witnesses Examined.


Miss Mary B. Murphy, Secretary, Irish Red Cross Society was sworn and examined (accompanied by Leslie Bean de Barra).


15. Miss Murphy withdrew.


16. The Committee went into private session.


17. Ordered: that Deputy Charles J. Haughey, Deputy Neil T. Blaney and Mr. John Kelly be required to attend.


18. The Committee consulted with Mr. D. Walshe, Chief State Solicitor’s Office and Mr. D. Quigley S.C., Attorney General’s Office.


19. Adjournment.


The Committee adjourned at 5.50 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday next.
