The following members were present:— Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, Briscoe, R. Burke, FitzGerald, Keating, MacSharry, Nolan, Treacy and Tunney. 3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity. 4. Ordered: that Captain Kelly be heard, as requested by him verbally, when business scheduled for today has been disposed of. 5. The Committee went into public session. 6. Witnesses Examined. Mr. Brendan O’Donnell was sworn and examined. 7. Mr. O’Donnell withdrew. 8. Witnesses Examined. Mr. Gearóid MacEoin was sworn and examined. 9. Mr. MacEoin withdrew. 10. Witnesses Examined. Mr. Séamus Brady was sworn and examined. 11. Sitting Suspended. The sitting was suspended at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. today. 12. The Committee met again at 4 p.m. 13. The Committee went into public session. 14. Witnesses Examined. Examination of Mr. Séamus Brady was resumed. 15. Mr. Brady withdrew. 16. The Committee went into private session. 17. Ordered: that evidence be taken in private from Captain Kelly as to why he wished to make a statement to the Committee. 18. Witnesses Examined. Examination of Captain Kelly resumed in private session. 19. Ordered: that the examination of Captain Kelly be continued in public session and, Captain Kelly concurring, that the evidence taken from him in private session to-day be published. 20. The Committee went into public session. 21. Witnesses Examined. Examination of Captain Kelly was resumed. 22. Captain Kelly withdrew. 23. The Committee went into private session. 24. The Committee noted a letter dated 12 February 1971* received from Deputy C. J. Haughey. 25. Adjournment. The Committee adjourned at 6.35 p.m. until 11 a.m. tomorrow. |
