1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, R. Burke, Cluskey, E. Collins, Dowling, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Nolan, MacSharry, Treacy and Tunney.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1969-70.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1969-70 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:— President’s Establishment, Houses of the Oireachtas, Department of the Taoiseach, Central Statistics Office, Office of the Minister for Finance, State Laboratory, Civil Service Commission, An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Secret Service, Agricultural Grants, Law Charges, Miscellaneous Expenses, Increases in Pensions and Ex-Gratia Pensions for Widows and Children, Remuneration, Posts and Telegraphs and Local Government.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. C. H. Murray (Secretary, Department of Finance), Mr. P. L. Ó Colmáin (Secretary Department of Posts and Telegraphs), Mr. M. Lawless (Secretary, Department of Local Government) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.
