The following members were present:— Deputy Patrick Hogan (in the Chair), Deputies Barrett, R. Burke, Cluskey, E. Collins, Dowling, FitzGerald, H. Gibbons, Nolan, MacSharry, Treacy and Tunney. 3. Mr. E. F. Suttle (Comptroller and Auditor General) was in attendance in an advisory capacity. 4. Resolved: (i) to approve a statement by the Chairman for possible broadcasting on the RTE “Seven Days” programme, (ii) that it be read live by the Chairman, (iii) that it be not pre-released, (iv) that there be no cross-examination, (v) that there be no subsequent statement by any member of the Committee. (Appropriation Accounts 1969/70). 5. The Chairman reported that RTE had asked to see the statement in advance and requested leave to submit an edited version for approval. Ordered: that editing be not allowed but that pre-recording be agreed to subject to the statement’s being broadcast without a break. (Appropriation Accounts 1969/70). 6. Adjournment. The Committee adjourned at 4.45 p.m. until 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday next. |
