1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Jones (in the Chair), Deputies Andrews, Briscoe, Patrick J. Burke, Crowley, Healy, Patrick Hogan (South Tipperary), Kenny, Molloy and Treacy.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1965-66.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1965-66 was begun. The following Accounts were disposed of:—President’s Establishment, Houses of the Oireachtas, Department of the Taoiseach, Central Statistics Office, Office of the Minister for Finance, State Laboratory, Civil Service Commission, An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Secret Service, Agricultural Grants, Law Charges, Miscellaneous Expenses, Increases in Pensions, Remuneration, Health, Central Mental Hospital and Roinn na Gaeltachta.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. T. K. Whitaker (Secretary, Department of Finance), Mr. P. S. Ó Muireadhaigh (Secretary, Department of Health), Mr. L. Toacuteiacuten (Rúnaí, Roinn na Gaeltachta), Miss Máire Bhreathnach (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

5. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 1.5 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
