The following is further information which I undertook to provide during my examination at the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on 16th ultimo.

Subhead D—Purchase of Sites and Buildings

Galway: Costello Bay, former Coast Guard Station, £50.

This payment was for the fee simple interest in the former Coast Guard Station which had been held on a 90 year lease from 1875 at a rent of £14 per annum.

Galway: Major Fishery Harbour—site, £83.

This payment is a recoupment to Bord Iascaigh Mhara of amounts paid by them in rates and Schedule A tax on property acquired in Galway for the proposed Major Fishery Harbour.
