DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION—PAINTING GRANTS.

NOTICE TO MANAGERS.

PAINTING GRANTS—INCREASE IN THE RATES OF MAXIMUM GRANTS.

The Minister for Education is pleased to announce that the rates of maximum grants payable towards the cost of painting national schools are to be increased as follows:—


An increase of 12½% on the present rates for external painting;


An increase of 20% on the present rates for internal painting.


The increased rates of maximum grants will apply to painting works carried out after 1st April, 1965. As from that date, painting grants will be at the rate of two-thirds of the cost, subject to the increased maximum rates set out below.

and so forth, at the rate of £18 for external painting and £36 for internal painting of each additional classroom.


For grant purposes, a Domestic Economy room or a Science room will be regarded as a classroom. The maximum grants for painting assembly halls are to be increased from £33 to £37 for external painting, and from £133 to £160 for internal painting.
