APPENDIX XIII.C.I.E. REDUNDANCY COMPENSATION: RENTS OF HOUSES—SHANNON INDUSTRIAL ESTATE.An Cléireach, An Coiste um Chúntais Phoiblí. At the proceedings of the Committee on the 13th October, 1965, I undertook to supply information as to (a) the breakdown of redundancy compensation paid to Córas Iompair Éireann as between annual sums and capital sums in partial commutation of annual sums and (b) the average rents charged for three and four bedroom houses at Shannon Airport. (a) C.I.E. Redundancy Compensation. The estimate for Subhead D.2—Grants to C.I.E. under Section 15 of the Transport Act, 1950, in respect of redundancy compensation—for 1963/64 was based on forecasts provided by C.I.E. The total forecast was £401,200, of which it was estimated that £43,500 would be required in respect of payments in the form of capital sums in partial commutation of annual sums. Expenditure under Subhead D.2 for 1963/64 amounted to £701,481 0s. 5d,. of which £284,952 12s. 6d. was in respect of commutations. Details of estimates and expenditure during the year are as follows:
(b) Rents of Houses—Shannon Industrial Estate. Three-bedroom houses: These are terrace-type houses with no garage and of three sizes with floor areas of 760,870 and 911 sq. ft. The annual rents charged are £97 10s. 0d., £111 6s. 0d. and £125 5s. 0d., respectively. Rates are payable by the tenant. The figures quoted for rents include an increase of 7% with effect from 1st June, 1964. Four-bedroom houses (with garage): Only 24 were built and the Company does not intend to build any more of this type. The floor area is 1,324 sq. ft. (including garage 148 sq. ft.). The annual rent of £222 15s. 0d. includes an increase of 7% with effect from 1st June, 1964. Rates are payable by the tenant. (Signed) T. J. BEERE, Accounting Officer,
